BREAKING: FBI Releases Chilling Surveillance Images of Armed Suspect in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance

In a major break in the case that has gripped the nation, the FBI has released the first surveillance images and video footage connected to the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.

The newly recovered images, released Tuesday by FBI Director Kash Patel, show a masked individual standing on Nancy Guthrie’s front porch during the early morning hours of February 1, the night she went missing.

The Suspect

The grainy black-and-white footage reveals a person dressed in dark clothing, wearing a full ski mask that obscures their face, heavy gloves, and a backpack. Perhaps most alarming, authorities noted that the individual appears to be armed, with what looks like a handgun holster visible in their waistband.

According to the FBI, the suspect can be seen approaching the front door and immediately attempting to disable the home's Nest doorbell camera. In one clip, the individual is seen ripping plant material from a nearby pot to cover the camera lens and block its view.

"Residual Data" Breakthrough

Investigators initially believed that no footage of the abduction existed, as the camera had been tampered with or disconnected. However, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department worked with private sector partners to perform a deep forensic analysis. They successfully recovered the video files from "residual data" located in the backend systems of the device—evidence that was previously thought to be lost or corrupted.

"Someone out there recognizes this person," Savannah Guthrie wrote in an emotional Instagram post shortly after the images were made public. "We believe she is still out there. Bring her home."

The Timeline

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of January 31 after family members dropped her off at her Tucson home following a game night. She was reported missing the following afternoon when she failed to show up for church.

While the images do not show Nancy herself, they provide the first concrete lead in a week-long search that has yielded few clues. Authorities are urging anyone who recognizes the suspect's clothing, backpack, or gait to come forward immediately.

Stay Ahead of the Story

This is a rapidly developing investigation. As authorities analyze this new footage and the search intensifies, every second counts.
