URGENT: FAA Abruptly Shuts Down El Paso International Airport for 10 Days Citing "Special Security Reasons"

In an unprecedented and baffling move, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has grounded all flights in and out of El Paso International Airport (ELP) for the next 10 days, effectively cutting off one of Texas’s major transportation hubs from the rest of the country.

The sudden order, which went into effect late Tuesday night (Feb. 10), classifies the airspace over El Paso and parts of southern New Mexico as "National Defense Airspace."

"Deadly Force" Warning

The FAA’s Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) contains chilling language rarely seen over domestic soil outside of major disasters or active military events. The directive warns that any pilot who violates the 10-nautical-mile no-fly zone "may be intercepted, detained and interviewed by law enforcement."

More alarmingly, the notice states that the United States government "may use deadly force against the airborne aircraft, if it is determined that the aircraft poses an imminent security threat."

Pilots and Officials Left in the Dark

The shutdown caught local officials, airlines, and even pilots completely off guard.

According to leaked air traffic control audio, pilots arriving late Tuesday were dumbfounded when informed they would not be able to leave the following morning. "So the airport is totally closed?" one Southwest Airlines pilot asked. "Apparently, we just got informed about 30 minutes to an hour ago," the controller responded.

As of Wednesday morning, the airport terminal is a scene of confusion. Commercial, cargo, and general aviation operations have all been halted. The restriction reaches up to 18,000 feet and includes the neighboring community of Santa Teresa, New Mexico, though it stops short of Mexican airspace.

The Mystery Deepens

Authorities have cited only "special security reasons" for the drastic measure, declining to elaborate on the specific threat. The silence from the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security has fueled rampant speculation.

With Flightradar24 showing a complete void over West Texas and military aircraft from nearby Fort Bliss reportedly active, the question remains: What is happening in El Paso that requires a total aerial blackout?

What Are They Hiding?

This is not a weather delay. This is a National Defense order. Why would the FAA shut down a major US city's airspace for 10 days with zero warning? We are currently reaching out to our sources at the Pentagon and within the DHS to find out what is really going on.
